Pre-Shoot Checklist for Families
Capturing your family, your home and your neighbourhood is exactly the type of work that is closest to my heart. I love being around to record what I see and frame sweet moments. Your response to these questions will help me do so in the most beautiful way I know how.
1. YOUR CHOICE OF TIME…
The summer light is most flattering in the wee morning hours between 6AM-9AM and at the end of the day from 5PM-8PM. Portraits however are best when the people in them are at their best, so MOOD takes precedence over light!
Speaking of mood, we will need 1-2 hours to give everyone time to get comfortable with me and my camera, so it’s important that everyone (including the photographer : ) has eaten before the session begins.
2. YOUR CHOICE OF SPACE…
Please send your address and a few images of the house and yard – just some you have already taken – so I can get a sense of the location and sketch some ideas.
3. YOUR LOOK…
Everyone smiles brighter and looks more beautiful when they are comfortable and feel like themselves, so if you are formal folks and like to dress up, definitely do so. If you all generally wear tees, jeans and bare feet, then let’s take photos of you like that. I do ask that you avoid words/logos on clothing because they are distracting, and matchy matchy clothes as they do not make for an interesting image.
Also remember that I will photograph fronts and backs, and everything from tip to toe. On that note, please share your least and most favourite things about your appearance so I can downplay and accentuate to suit your preferences. For example, I have one eye quite a bit larger than the other, so I prefer photos of myself that diminish that contrast. I want you to LOVE these photographs.
4. YOUR VISION FOR THE PHOTOS…
What would you like to get out of this? A record to have, a book of photos, photos to share online with friends and family, printed photo gifts for friends and family, photos for your walls… Let me know and I will plan our session accordingly.
That’s all for now. I’m looking forward to our time together!
