It’s wonderful to have a record of an event to look back on and immediately feel yourself transported to that moment. The candid nature of event photography is delightful. It involves an element of luck, a bit of stealth, and great adaptability. It’s so important to capture all the details, to catch everyone in attendance, and the interactions between them, but also to step back for a view of the scene as a whole. There is a story to an event and it is a beautiful privilege to be given that story to tell.
This event was on the night before their wedding. The bride and groom had their two families come together for a cocktail hour at the groom’s family home. Though it was the first time they’d met, everyone was relaxed at this casual pre-event event and it made for some great photography – as did the warm evening light. The love and support for the couple was palpable.
